Lights flickered on in the kitchen
And though the pantry lay bare
She turned to the kettle and plugged the switch in
While fastening her stringy hair
No sunlight came flooding in
As the blinds were gently drawn
The day was long and tiring
The woman had been up since dawn
Trudging through the kitchen
Like slow hands on a ticking clock
She needed some nutrition
But her cupboard, out of stock
As her legs grew unstable
And the truth she began to see
She sat defeated at the table
No dinner, it seemed, there would be
But from the cupboard came a whisper
And a shiny orange glow
The air got strangely crisper
Her hunger continued to grow
And from somewhere in the darkness
A strange tune sang out
Her headache, despite its sharpness
She soon was without
Because something in her cupboard
The world wanted her to see
And though the kitchen’s cluttered
She spotted it immediately
Her eyes welled up into a blur
And face folded to form a grin
For on the counter in front of her
Were 2-minute noodles, curly and thin
And though the way she would slurp them up
To some may seem uncouth
Every busy girl needs noodles in a cup
And that was just the truth
